Charles Bukowski

Charles Bukowski (1920 - 1994), an influential poet and novelist.

He seems to be an idol of a popular Slovenian blogger Fetalij, and there's where I heard about him. I searched for some of his poems, to see what it's all about. And just when I was about to write that I don't like any of his poems, I found one that is good. To be honest, I haven't spend much time searching, so I might as well be doing him injustice. I checked online, there's one of his books in our library and I might check it out one day.

Alone with everybody (Charles Bukowski)

the flesh covers the bone
and they put a mind
in there and
sometimes a soul,
and the women break
vases against the wall
sand the men drink too
much
and nobody finds the
one
but keep
looking
crawling in and out
of beds.
flesh covers
the bone and the
flesh searches
for more than
flesh.

there’s no chance
at all:
we are all trapped
by a singular
fate.

nobody ever finds
the one.

the city dumps fill
the junkyards fill
the madhouses fill
the hospitals fill
the graveyards fill

nothing else
fills.
